COVID-19 Update: New Visitation Policy

As previously shared, the world, our nation, our state, our county, and our city are continually responding to the pandemic COVID-19 (Coronavirus). We do not have any cases of COVID-19 at our community, but the recent developments trigger heightened infection control practices and protocols as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Please know that maintaining the health, wellness, and safety of Asbury Village is our number one priority. Effective immediately, Asbury Village has a new visitation policy due to COVID-19.

For the health and safety of our residents, we ask that you please do not have family members or visitors at our community at this time unless it is an extreme situation that should be reviewed by Anita Martinez, Executive Director or Brandi Knipfer, Weston Director. Essential vendors that are approved to provide services will be screened for the following:

• Signs or symptoms of a respiratory infection, such as fever, cough, shortness of breath, or sore throat.

• In the last 14 days, has had contact with someone with a confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19, or under investigation for COVID-19, or are ill with respiratory illness.

• International travel within the last 14 days to countries with sustained community transmission. For updated information on affected countries visit the CDC website.

• Resides in a community where community-based spread of COVID-19 is occurring.

Please know that the news about the spread of this new disease is concerning for us all. We understand that communication with your loved ones is incredibly important and we encourage you to communicate with them in other ways such as the telephone, video chat, e-mail, or social media. In addition to limiting visitation to prevent the illness in our community, we are focused on infection control best practices with our employees and residents. Our employees have been trained on the symptoms of the COVID-19 virus, CDC recommended infection prevention techniques, and have clear protocols for employees. Remember that you are a key partner in keeping yourself and others healthy at Asbury Village by:

• Wash your hands often

• Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth

• Notify an employee if you feel sick

We continue to monitor information and guidance from the IDPH, Madison County, the CMS, and the CDC and are working with state and local public health and emergency preparedness officials to prevent the illness and strengthen our preparation for a possible outbreak.
